10 Actors Who Only Gave Great Performances Because They Got Drunk

When getting hammered becomes art.

In order to perform at their best, actors need to remain sharp and focused. In Hollywood especially, the cast need to be on their toes - a Hollywood movie is often a huge gamble, and there's rarely a case where reputations and millions of dollars aren't at risk should any spanners get in the works. God forbid, then, that an actor might find themselves drunk on-set, putting their thesping skills at the risk of impairment and threatening the feeble balance of the shoot. Drinking on a movie is not just considered unprofessional and disruptive to the moviemaking process; it can ruin careers of even the biggest stars. Of course, some proponents of method acting might insist that, in order to convincingly play a part drunk, you just need to make a friend of alcohol and bring real booze into the mix. On occasion, some actors will feel that just pretending to be drunk isn't enough. On other occasions, however, there are actors who use their real-life experience in drinking and channel it through the role they're playing to create something unusually powerful. It turns out that some of the best and brightest have actually been doing this for years. In some cases, they're still doing it today.
