Kelsey Grammer will forever be best known for his performance as Frasier Crane in the eponymously-titled sitcom, yet it's always been a tad strange that despite his charm and wit, he never made a particularly successful transition to marquee movie roles.

Since Frasier ended in 2004, Grammer has appeared in just two acclaimed films - Storks and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising - in supporting roles, while he has almost 20 critical clunkers to his name.

These films range from comedy misfires to appearances in blockbusters such as X-Men: The Last Stand, The Expendables 3, and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Lately he's also ventured into straight-to-streaming action flick territory, most recently appearing in the hilarious trash-fest Money Plane.

Grammer at least seems like he's having fun in some of these roles, yet given that his best-received work continues to be on TV - with his Emmy-winning performances in Frasier and The Simpsons, and a Golden Globe-winning turn on Boss - it's clearly the medium where he's most at-home.

Then again, where else but Money Plane can you hear Frasier Crane talk about a guy having sex with an alligator?:
