10 Actors Who Profited From Films That Ruined Careers

7. Tom Hanks - Big

Few long-standing Hollywood stars have been handed as many awards and accolades over the years as Tom Hanks. From Forrest Gump to Philadelphia, Hanks has consistently proven himself to be a real draw when it comes to awards-baiting mainstream movies. This perhaps wasn't at all obvious to audiences back when his breakthrough film, Big, in which he played a 12-year-old boy magically transported into the body of an adult. The widespread critical acclaim and huge box office takings (it made over $150 million off an $18 million budget) kickstarted Hanks' career as an A-list actor in demand. Meanwhile, the best co-star Elizabeth Perkins could manage was roles in The Flintstones and Miracle On 34th Street, while Robert Loggia - who had earned an Oscar nomination for Jagged Edge just a few years before - continued as a great character actor who somehow misses out on the roles that will really allow him to flex his acting muscles to their full extent.
