Say what you want about the handling of the DCEU's Superman for much of the legendary superhero's tenure inside of the ill-thought-out Warner Bros. world, but you can never question the dedication Henry Cavill put into creating the most authentic looking Man of Steel he could.

The hulking Brit was so focused on getting his body into the shape needed to convincingly portray the Son of Krypton that he even stressed to those pulling the digital strings behind the scenes that he wanted absolutely no additional help in making his body pop like a god among men.

As Cavill told Men's Health around the time of production on Man of Steel, "I had a big sense of pride. I was like, ‘No shading. I don’t want you to draw abs on me. I don’t want you to put dirt in the right places.' I just want to do it myself. I want to have the body."

Far from giving himself a well-earned rest in his time away from the iconic cape, Cavill has continued to pass up CGI body-assistance, again putting himself through the ringer to bring Geralt of Rivia into live-action existence in Netflix's The Witcher series in recent times.
