10 Actors Who Refused To Use Stunt Doubles For Epic Fight Scenes
4. The Transporter Franchise - Jason Statham
Known for doing his own stunts and fight scenes, the former commonwealth diver has been getting his hands dirty from the very beginning of his film career. Since transitioning from athletics and modeling, the Derbyshire-born actor has become a household name in Hollywood. From starring in clever crime comedies such as Snatch (2000) to heist classics like The Italian Job (2003), Jason Statham has shown he has a decent range as a performer. However, it is in his action roles where he obviously shines brightest.
In preparation for any action role, he trains in the disciplines of kung-fu, kickboxing and karate. This is standard for Statham, as he has practiced these since he was a child. He then does strength and conditioning training, which involves weightlifting and gymnastics.
All his expertise are best illustrated in The Transporter trilogy. In the scene attached, for example, Statham uses his martial arts and gymnastics background to hold off and then take down a mob of enemies sent after him. This involves him utilising kicks, strikes and grapples to gain the upper hand.
