10 Actors Who Went Too Far On Set
4. Sylvester Stallone & Dolph Lundgren - Rocky IV
Rocky IV is known for its gloriously over-the-top fight sequences and montages, so it seems only fitting that its canvas contests were absolute chaos during filming too. Lead actor Sly Stallone urged his man-mountain of a co-star Dolph Lundgren to slug him for real during the final showdown, and that was a request he'd live to regret.
The Italian Stallion wanted the grand finale to be intense, and he convinced the Swedish hardman to attempt to knock him out for real. One Drago punch to the chest later, and Stallone had to be flown back to the US for emergency treatment.
Apparently, Lundgren's thunderous blow caused Sly's heart to bang against his ribcage and swell up. His blood pressure skyrocketed to 260 BPS, prompting the crew to seek medical help pronto. Stallone spent five days in intensive care before filming resumed.
Sounds like the entire incident was worthy of a montage of its own.
