10 Actors Who Went Unnecessarily Muscular For Movie Roles

6. Paul Rudd - Ant-Man

Paul Rudd is already a vampire who doesn’t age, granted, but did a couple of shirtless scenes in Ant-Man really require him to put as much time in at the gym as he must have done for that role?

Scott Lang is just your average ex-con with no superpowers. Sure, he pulls off some pretty impressive acrobatics and receives some pretty full-on training from Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne, but did he need to look like a swimwear model?

Based on his years behind bars and his penchant for thieving, it’s somewhat believable that he’d hit the gym every now and then – but those abs? Unless he was sticking to a super strict diet and constantly doing crunches in between scenes, I’m not buying it. A classic and slightly more squishy-around-the-edges Paul Rudd would have been perfectly acceptable, thank you.

I used to get paid to write from an office until Covid took away my office and then took away my job. These days you'll mostly find me in bed binge-watching Buffy or standing outside a club at 10.01pm - hand pressed against the glass with a single tear running down my mask.
