When your own uncle threatens to fire you, you know you've messed up.

That's what went down on the set of cult comedy Peggy Sue Got Married, which stars Kathleen Turner and Nicholas Cage, and was directed by the one and only Francis Ford Coppola (who is Cage's uncle, in case you didn't know).

You'd think a guy of Cage's questionable talents would appreciate being cast as the lead in a film, especially during those earlier career days, but instead the actor paid back his uncle's kind gesture by refusing to let his character, Charlie, talk in anything other than the voice of "the claymation horse from The Gumby Show."

Coppola hated it. Kathleen Turner hated if. If you've seen the film, chances are that you hate it, too. Somehow, this turn didn't end Cage's career outright, though now it does stand out as an interesting failure of sorts; he tried to be different, at least, and the role has become somewhat infamous as a result.

Still, it's clear why Cage and his uncle have never worked together since: this incident caused major tensions after Coppola threatened to sack his nephew.
