10 Actors Whose Movie Character Requests Got Rejected

1. Sean Young Wanted Daryl Hannah's Role Instead - Wall Street

The Batman Penguin
Fox

Sean Young had a small supporting role in Oliver Stone's Wall Street as Kate Gekko, the ex-wife of reptilian Wall Street trader Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas).

Young, who was increasingly growing a rep for being "difficult" at the time, firmly believed that she was a better fit for the part of Bud Fox's (Charlie Sheen) materialistic girlfriend Darien Taylor (Daryl Hannah), even urging Stone to fire Daryl Hannah and give her the role instead.

Stone rejected Young's request, however, and due to her volatile and unpredictable behaviour on set - namely turning up late and unprepared, and also bristling with Charlie Sheen of all people - Stone ended up cutting her role down to a glorified cameo.

However, Stone admitted years later that Young was probably right: he didn't love Hannah in the role of Darien, and many of his crew even suggested that he fire her. Stone surmised that Young and Hannah would've been more effective by switching roles.

So, while Stone ultimately didn't grant Young's request, she at least ended up with something of a moral victory as her bullish instincts were eventually proven right.
