20 Movies That Were JUST Announced
These movies were just confirmed to be happening.
There's never a quiet day in Hollywood, as basically every single day of the year movie ideas are cooked up and greenlit, some of which are swiftly announced to the public while others are worked on behind-the-scenes ahead of an official reveal.
With the sheer number of movies announced every single year, month, even week, it can be tough to keep track of everything that's coming down the cinematic pike, and so, here are 20 recent movie announcements you absolutely need to know about.
While a movie's mere announcement is of course no guarantee that said film is going to get made, the sheer amount of buzz and intrigue surrounding most of these projects makes it highly likely they do in fact go before cameras.
From long-awaited adaptations of legendary video games to much anticipated sequels we never thought we'd see, bold reimaginings of classic IP, and perhaps even an original idea or two, these movies were all just confirmed to be in the works.
Some are gearing up to start production, though it's fair to say that others likely won't be with us for at least a couple of years...
20. Cyberpunk 2077
Despite its rough launch, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most acclaimed video games of the past decade, and so it's honestly surprising that it's taken quite this long for a film adaptation to be announced.
At the start of October, Paramount confirmed that they were teaming with developer CD Projekt Red to produce a Cyberpunk 2077 movie, and though details were initially thin on the ground, CD Projekt Red swiftly revealed that the film won't be a 1:1 adaptation of the game.
Rather, it will tell a new story within the same universe, and so, it'll be interesting to see whether or not Keanu Reeves reprises his role as Johnny Silverhand in any capacity.
After all, the interest that Reeves will immediately bring to the film, even to those who've never played the game, speaks for itself.
Either way, with Hollywood finally taking video game adaptations more seriously in recent years, there's good reason to be excited about this rich gaming world getting a worthy blockbuster movie treatment.
