5. Jon Favreau - Chef
Similar to Affleck, Jon Favreau has become a noteworthy actor-turned-director in recent times and, also like Affleck, he has a habit of sticking himself into the films that he helms. Favreau's appearances in the Iron Man films as Tony Stark's chauffeur and butler Happy Hogan have been less celebrated than Affleck's in The Town and Argo. The Swingers star has also appeared in stinkers like Couples Retreat, Identity Thief and John Carter in recent years. They may not be starring roles but they haven't endeared Favreau to many. He went some way to winning people back over with last year's Chef, a stripped-down comedy-drama that was written, produced and directed by Favreau. His performance as a former celebrity chef who rebuilds his reputation and reconnects with his family after a blow-up with a critic was a welcome return to form by the man a few people had grown to resent for 'selling out' to Marvel/Hollywood and turning his back on the indie world.
