6. Doctor Sleep
While it's no surprise that Doctor Sleep showed up nowhere in awards season, it is still a surprise how underappreciated it was overall.
With possibly the toughest act to follow as the long-awaited follow-up to The Shining, it's baffling how such a beautifully crafted and worthy sequel did so poorly. Despite critical acclaim for its scare-factor, exciting lead performances by Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson, and that incredible finale at the Overlook, the film was a disappointment financially, and as a result has gone ridiculously under-seen.
Compared to the other Stephen King jumpscare fests of 2019, it's criminal that Doctor Sleep fared so poorly against It Chapter Two and even Pet Sematary.
Doctor Sleep deserved better; perhaps it'll be considered a cult classic in the future.
