10 Amazing Actresses Hollywood Don't Know What To Do With
3. Eva Green
Rewarding an actress who arrived fully-formed in her 2003 debut, The Dreamers, and who impressed as the most fleshed-out Bond girl there's ever been (in 2006's Casino Royale) with The Golden Compass, Dark Shadows and, let's be honest, probably 300: Rise of an Empire as well, is an insult. It's arguable that the only noteworthy role Eva Green has been given so far, aside from the two prior examples, was in Kingdom of Heaven, which - although since rediscovered as a Ridley Scott masterpiece in director's cut form - was a huge flop on release. But even there, Green was quietly magnificent, an otherworldly performer unlike any other actress around. Similarly, in The Dreamers, Green is fearless, happily shedding clothes and jumping into incest storylines to play an unhinged woman obsessed with movies; in Casino Royale, Green went the other way entirely, playing the cool, sensuous match for Daniel Craig's James Bond, perhaps for the first time ever playing a Bond girl that could feasibly stand up to the trigger-happy misogynist. Since then, Green's career has felt like a sorely missed opportunity - here's hoping Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens some new doors.
