Seeing as how Alison Blaire burst onto the scene as a disco singer capable of turning sound into energy and light, it seems only fitting that she nearly got her own solo feature back in the 80s starring Bo Derek.

After that went nowhere, the popular mutant seemed like a solid character to join the X-Men franchise. Yet time and time again, the fun-loving singer was passed over, likely because she didn’t mesh with the grim tone and serious nature of Bryan Singer’s films.

What really stings is how aware Singer clearly is of the character’s popularity. A few years back, he joked that Lady Gaga had joined Days Of Future Past as the character. Even though it was only for April Fool’s, it actually doesn’t sound like a horrible idea and the character would be a welcome addition to the series after all of these teases.

Just now, new images of Cyclops and Jean Grey holding her record in X-Men: Apocalypse have appeared, leading to a rumour that Taylor Swift may play her in the film. There’s still some hope that Dazzler will be able to find her way in with the next generation of new mutants, and her inclusion seems more likely than ever, so hopefully we don't need to endure yet another one of these close calls.
