10 Amazing Costume Designs From Mediocre Films

7. The Villains - The Three Musketeers (2011)

Very much in the vein of Wild Wild West, yet of marginally higher quality, this utterly ridiculous film that only vaguely takes from the original tale has some of the most gorgeous, colourful, eye-catching semi-historical costuming seen in what is essentially a high-budget B-movie.

With fine and heavy beadwork that takes French decadence to its most appropriate extreme, and colourful fabrics that pop with the film's bright lighting, this film does not hold back with its visuals, and for all its faults, it knows how to have fun with its concept.

Though many of the characters have outfits to behold, especially those counting among French royalty, those consistently serving looks throughout the film are its ridiculously well-dressed villains, with Orlando Bloom's moustache-twirling Duke of Buckingham and Milla Jovovich's Milady having some of the most decadent and extravagant pieces.

This film is a cheesy fun-filled action romp, and while nobody can say it's particularly any good, it's still a good enough time to turn your brain off and enjoy its action, visuals, and intriguingly star-studded cast.

And the designs by award-winning Parisian designer Tzuri Gueta and designer and actor of multiple films Pierre-Yves Gayraud make it at least ten times more rewarding.
