10 Amazing Movies Over Three Hours Long

1. The Godfather: Part II

Lord Of The Rings Return Of The King Aragorn
Paramount

Runtime: 3 hours 22 minutes

One of the greatest sequels ever made, for so many reasons, The Godfather Part II is director Francis Ford Coppola's finest work - and from the guy behind Apocalypse Now, The Godfather and The Conversation, that's saying something.

Not only is it entertaining, but it manages to adequately fill out its mammoth 202 minute runtime with a meaty, non-linear narrative consisting of a story following Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) and a prequel following his father, Vito (Robert De Niro).

This skipping back-and-forth can make the film feel a tad jumbled at times, but that really is a nitpick; the acting and writing on display here is among the best in cinematic history, and it's widely agreed that Pacino should have taken home the Academy Award that year to go along with Coppola's Adapted Screenplay and Directing wins.

As a film fan, one of the best ways you could spend a day off is to stock up on snacks and watch both Godfather movies - you can skip the third - back-to-back. It'll be a long session, but it's impossible to not feel rewarded for your time.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
