Airplane! might be the craziest movie ever made, but its infectious energy and simple, universally-entertaining gags make it a good kind of crazy, the type you can enjoy at any time of the year and in any mood, and leave with a smile on your face.

Despite its admittedly basic humour, the movie is surprising on many levels. Taking dramatic actors and putting them in comedic roles only makes each gag more funny, and the ingenious ways in which the script is able to take innocuous words and phrases and make jokes out of them is nothing short of brilliant.

Ultimately, Airplane! is harmless, unabashed entertainment. It doesn't ask anything of the audience and it doesn't try to outsmart you with edgy, contrived jokes - it just does a lot of weird, funny stuff, and it does it well.
