10 Amazing Superhero Movies You'll Never See

2. A Solo Black Widow Film

One of the things that no fanboy with any sense can get their heads around is why the heck hasn't Black Widow got her own film yet? Marvel managed a major coup in getting superstar Scarlett Johansson to play the role, and she's been the breakout star of three films so far - Iron Man 2, The Avengers, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. All three of which she was a supporting cast member in. So what is Marvel waiting for? There's been a suggestion that they're not ready yet for a female hero to lead one of their films (which is distressingly believable), something which the huge success of the Johansson-starring action flick Lucy put paid to. It turns out that part of their hesitance may be down to the fact that they already tried to launch a Black Widow film. In fact it was amongst the first of the independent films Marvel Studios mooted, before eventually deciding upon the Robert Downey Jr-starring Iron Man instead. Clearly a pretty good choice, since that was a surprise hit and lead to the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe being a thing, but it would've been pretty neat if the Year Zero for the MCU was Black Widow. They spilt the beans about the lost film just recently, refraining with giving any more details about who was involved in the project or how far along it got, but regardless - it's a pretty big loss.
