10 Awesome 2022 Movies That Didn't Deserve To Flop

7. Death On The Nile

Kenneth Brannagh's Death on the Nile wasn't necessarily a huge flop - the film managed to make a semblance of profit - but it deserved to have far more success than it achieved.

A follow-up to Brannagh's 2017 take on Murder on the Orient Express, this sequel had a $40 million bigger budget than its predecessor, yet managed to make $220 million less than Orient Express. Making this all the more frustrating for all involved in Death on the Nile, the film is actually a far better, more entertaining offering than what came before it.

One major reason for the underwhelming box office for Death on the Nile, was the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a movie that was initially due to hit the silver screen in December 2019, was first pushed back to October 2020, then to December 2020... then to September 2021... and then finally it arrived in February of this year.

Even when Death on the Nile did make its way out to cinemas, it was at a time when there were still serious COVID concerns and certain regulations in place. As such, despite providing a fun spin on a classic tale, complete with a star-studded ensemble cast, Death on the Nile's $90 million budget was only able to bring in $137 million at the global box office.
