10 Awesome Action Scenes That Defined Summer 2013

7. The Beehive Brawl - The World's End

The World's End - The Good Companions Edgar Wright has, over the course of his career, proven himself an exceptional talent at crafting imaginative set-pieces, and his latest film, The World's End, is certainly no different. Picking a set-piece that rises above the others is difficult, but for me it has to be when the gang of intrepid pub-crawlers arrive at The Beehive, and are greeted by their old school teacher (Pierce Brosnan), who implores them to join the robot legion. From here, a brutal pub fight ensues, with blue oil flying in every direction, as the gang try to avoid becoming assimilated. As it turns out, Oliver (Martin Freeman) has been assimilated prior, and ends up having his head smashed to pieces. There's an inherent hilarity to it, too, as Gary (Simon Pegg) still continues trying to finish his pint while his buddies tear the robots to pieces.
