10 Awesome Actors Who Just Dropped Off The Face Of The Earth

8. Joe Pesci

Joe Pesci was unique and unforgettable thanks in large part to roles in classic films like Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino and My Cousin Vinny. The fast talking funnyman announced his retirement in 1999. It's hard to take an actor serious when he says he's retiring because it usually never happens, but Pesci seems to have stuck to his guns. He's press shy, keeps mostly private and has only acted a few times since his announced "retirement." He appeared in The Good Shepard in 2006 and Love Ranch in 2010. He also appeared in a Snickers commercial in 2011 (retirement doesn't mean your bills go away). Besides those roles, it's been all quiet on the western front for the actor. Besides a few public appearances here and there, the actor has actually focused on music. In 1999, when the actor announced his retirement from acting, he also announced that he would focus on his music career. Since then he's quietly released a few albums. They're a mixture of comedy, rap and jazz. I'm sure Pesci is enjoying his relaxing retirement, but it would be fantastic to see him step back in front of the camera in one of the fast talking, criminal roles that made him such an awesome actor in the first place. Plus, as good as someone may think the music is, it's nowhere near what the man's acting is.
