10 Awesome Comic Book Movie Moments When Characters Received Power-Ups
5. Deadpool
Ryan Reynolds Wade Wilson was already tactically advanced and superior in terms of combat when we first meet him taking part in Strykers crusade to find adamantium in Africa. Again, Origins was not the greatest X-Men film of all time, but Wilsons transformation from mouthy soldier to invincible fighting machine is one that depicts an immense upgrade in power; Deadpool received the powers of mutants Stryker was experimenting on, and he uses these powers in an incredible climactic fight with Wolverine and Sabretooth. This depiction of Deadpool dismally fails to live up to his comic book reputation, but it is inarguable that Wilson is not granted an incredible power-up through Strykers manipulation of mutant DNA in the Weapon X program. If we try not to compare the movie Deadpool to the comic book legend it is clear that Deadpool becomes a ferocious foe and an almost deadly enemy through this program; without it he would have been easily slain by Wolverine or Sabretooth. The fact that Wade Wilson was an established soldier prior to his involvement in the program means that his transformation into Deadpool was a power-up; he already possessed the skill to be a brutal mercenary, he simply needed the means to be as effective as possible, and Strykers experiments gave him the means to accomplish this.
