2. Linda Seton - Holiday
Linda Seton is the definition of a black sheep. She's not perfect and responsible like her sister Julia, and for the most part she doesn't fit in with the wealthy moneymakers of her family. Linda would be much more happy left alone to pursue her interests, spending hours in the playroom that reminds her of her mother. Of course, there's a bit of a problem there -- in order for her to live the type of carefree lifestyle she desires, she's going to need some of that family money. So there's a contradictory element to her character that is fascinating. She feels trapped by her family's wealth and situation, but at the same time, you can't exactly be poor and live a life of leisure. Katharine Hepburn gives her a wonderfully wacky sense of humor, and she just seems like a ridiculously fun person to be around. Despite the fact that she and her sister are complete opposites, there's a lot of warmth and tenderness between the two, and it speaks volumes to Linda's character that she would never think of trying to come between Julia and Johnny unless she was sure things were really over. It's not Katharine Hepburn's most famous role, but she's definitely at her most engaging and lovable here.
