10 Awesome Horror Movie Deleted Scenes You Won't Believe Were Cut
4. Alien: Cocooned Dallas
What you don't see in Alien is actually more terrifying than the stuff it throws at you. Ridley Scott plays on our imaginations throughout and this is the approach he took with Dallas's death.
In the original theatrical cut, the Nostromo's captain encounters the Xenomorph inside a vent and we assume he's a gonner, certain to have died a horrific, agonising death at the hands of the acid-blooded killing machine.
But a deleted scene went into explicit detail about his fate, showing Ripley discovering a cocooned Dallas in the belly of the Nostromo, writhing in agony and only just able to utter the words "kill me".
A tortured Ripley eventually puts her shipmate out of his misery with a flamethrower.
Scott included the sequence in an anniversary re-release of Alien but has always maintained the movie is better without it. The fans wouldn't necessarily agree.
