10 Awesome Horror Movie Villains With One Stupid Weakness
5. Imhotep - The Mummy
The 1999 take on The Mummy is very much an action-adventure picture, but it's also very much a horror movie due to focussing on one of the most infamous figures in the history of the genre.
This particular Mummy might be a smidge different from the classic bandaged creature, but it instead pulls a little more inspiration from the Baris Karloff version seen in the 1932 film, complete with the Imhotep moniker. And in terms of stopping this resurrected menace and his soul-sucking ways, there's one remarkably easy way: the humble cat.
Well, that's so long as Imhotep isn't fully charged and at the peak of his powers, at least. If the rogue sees any sort of cat before he's in maximum capacity, he immediately heads for the exit door, as first seen in The Mummy when a feline casually walks into a scene and steps on a piano. Upon seeing this kitty, Imhotep turns to dust and high tails it out of dodge.
As for the reason for this, there's an ancient Egyptian belief that cats are the guardians of the dead. So, with Imhotep having risen from the dead, his fear is that a moggy could well send him back to the afterlife before he's able to be fully restored.
