10 Awesome Horror Villains Trapped In TERRIBLE Movies
8. Slender Man - Slender Man
2019's Slender Man movie should've been near-impossible to screw up - the gangly, suited-up supernatural entity became a viral phenomenon in the early 2010s, aided by the wealth of fan fiction written about the child-abducting creature.
A Hollywood adaptation made total sense, then, but for as inherently unnerving as Slender Man's design is, Sylvain White's film failed to take full - if any - advantage of it.
A Slender Man movie doesn't exactly need a tight, nuanced script in order to succeed - just a bevy of eerie set-pieces worthy of the entity's origins as an online creepypasta.
Now, it has to be said that the film's production was impacted by the 2014 Slender Man stabbing and subsequent court trial, which reportedly prompted Sony to tone down the film's violence inflicted upon its young central characters for fear of PR blowback.
And so, audiences were left with a sanitised, editorially chaotic end product which scarcely made sense while failing to make inspired use of its terrifying titular antagonist.
