10 Awesome Movies It Suddenly Became Cool To Hate

1. Titanic (1997)

Surely there has never been a movie in the history of cinema that it suddenly became cool to hate more than Titantic, a motion picture which also probably doubles as the most loathed and yet equally beloved movie in existence. Just like with Cameron's other billion dollar baby, Avatar, Titantic became so insanely popular that it was bound to be met with a backlash. But it also set the standards for modern day blacklashes all together, given that it was chastised for going about as "mainstream" as it was possible to go. The problem is that Titantic really isn't a bad film. Lovingly-crafted and written (despite what you think of his dialogue) by James Cameron, Titanic was the ultimate passion project for a director who was then best known for sci-fi movies like Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Titantic will go down as one of the most important pictures ever made, of course, regardless of quality - it is a phenomenon; a pop cultural hot button that refuses to die, no matter how many times we brand it "uncool" and try to kill it. Admitting you like Titanic isn't seen to be respectable, but is making fun of it all that hip either? The achievement alone demands respect. In a hundred years time, perhaps it'll even earn the classic status it deserves. Like this article? Let us know in the comments section below.
