10 Awesome Movies With 99% On Rotten Tomatoes
8. Parasite
Bong Joon-ho's new black comedy-thriller Parasite is one of the year's most acclaimed films so far, picking up the Cannes Film Festival's coveted Palme d'Or - Korea's first-ever win - and currently surging on a wave of hype for not only the Best International Feature Film Oscar, but the possibility it might slip into the Best Picture field.
Parasite is a tough film to talk much about if only because its success is so fundamentally built on the audience knowing as little as possible about its premise going in.
Know simply that Joon-ho's film is a richly thoughtful, deeply provocative and totally hilarious satire of class structures, and one that's deservedly been earning raves from critics at every film festival it's played at so far.
With roughly 250 reviews on the Tomatometer, there are just two dissenters, one of them being infamous critical contrarian Armond White, who labelled Joon-ho an "unfunny extremist."
Needless to say, these few detractors will do little to affect the film's major awards chances as it chugs towards the Oscars with a wealth of ever-growing momentum.
