In Sleepaway Camp, a traumatised teen called Angela is sent to summer camp by her aunt, hoping the experience will help her come out of her shell. Shortly after Angela arrives, the campers discover a serial killer lurks among them, eager to pick them all off one-by-one.

In a nutshell, Sleepaway Camp isn't really remembered for anything, bar its ending. The kills are forgettable, the dialogue is awful, and the acting is unbearable (even by horror movie standards).

For many first-time viewers, the only thing stopping you from switching it off is to see who the killer is. Luckily, the ending is worth it.

In the very last minute, we discover the killer is Angela herself. Because Angela was depicted as such a sweet, pure girl, nobody saw this coming. The fact that we believed her to be the hero also caught us off-guard.

But that's not all. In the closing seconds, we learn Angela is actually a boy, who was forced by her demented aunt to pose as a female, which drove her insane. What really sells those moment is how spectacularly well-shot that reveal is. Due to the blaring music, Angela's demented stare, and the guttural sounds she makes, it's impossible not to be rocked to your core upon watching this scene.
