With only a gross of $41 million against a budget of $38 million, Overlord deserved a much bigger performance at the box office. It’s an absolute gift to zombie fans as it commits to its gory fun, certain to please anyone looking for enthralling suspense and seriously entertaining zombie horror.

The best part is all the build-up leading to the climax. This motion picture knows how to build excitement throughout its first and second acts, and once the third act breaks out, it’s an absolute blast for audiences — this knew how to stick the landing.

Still, while its box office performance may have been a disappointment, Overlord seems destined to become a cult classic. That title gets thrown around a lot with horror films, but Overlord is one that truly deserves it. Give it five more years and this is sure to have a large number of diehards due to how satisfying of an experience it is for gore and zombie lovers. The action is great, the gore looks terrific, and the entire thing will certainly to leave you feeling well-pleased and satiated.
