2. Captain Planet And The Planeteers
Lets face it; we could all use Captain Planet now. The 1993-1996 series featured The Planeteers, five carefully selected youths from across the globe (cue heavy handed Hollywood attempts to avoid racism, and walking straight into racism), each with a ring which had its own power, and a combined power to summon Captain Planet to deal with issues of destruction to our planet. A modern version would surely have to deal with villains like lobbyists and general apathy. Then Al Gore and Captain Planet could team up and save the day. Theres lots of places a film version could go though, the fact our little planet still needs a good captain is certainly something to play with and this cartoon was popular enough to have a lasting appeal and a retro kitsch value that is etched in peoples memories.
