7. The Terminator (1984) €“ The Outer Limits: Demon With A Glass Hand (1964)

Demon_with_a_glass_hand In the 1960s, celebrated sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison wrote two scripts for the US television series €˜The Outer Limits€™, both of which bear uncanny similarities to James Cameron€™s later smash hit movie, €˜The Terminator€™, from 1984. A subsequent court case ruled in favour of Ellison€™s complaint of plagiarism, regarding his €˜Soldier€™ script, in which two super-soldiers are transported back from the future, to the present, only to end up fighting, on rival sides, for the lives of a father and his family. However, in terms of set-pieces, this famous image of Arnold Schwarzenegger revealing his robotic arm is visually extremely similar to Ellison€™s other €˜Outer Limits€™ script: €˜Demon with a Glass Hand€™, in which aliens from the future travel back in time to locate an amnesiac cyborg€ Terminator
