Jedi Starfighters (also called Jedi Interceptors) blend together elements from two iconic ships: the opening foils of X-Wings are evoked in the unpeeling wings here, whilst the interior surfaces of the wings and small window at the front of the cabin are clearly similar to those of TIE fighters. With these subtle nods to the later Alliance and Imperial ships, audiences could tell at a glance that the Starfighters were common ancestors to these vessels, reinforcing the prequel's underlying plot thread of the Galactic Empire coming into being. Introduced with a less advanced layout in Attack Of The Clones, the most impressive design for these Jedi fighter craft appeared in Revenge Of The Sith and Clone Wars. The later version of the Jedi ship looked impressively swift and lethal, thrilling audiences when piloted by Obi-Wan and Anakin in edge-of-the-seat action against buzz droids and separatist ships.
