6. Exogorth - The Empire Strikes Back

At a first glance, the exogorth seen in The Empire Strikes Back wasn't even known to be a character. Instead, our ragtag group of heroes believed that they'd landed in a conveniently placed asteroid crater in their attempts to avoid the clutches of the Empire after the Battle of Hoth.

Stepping out of the Millennium Falcon to check on a pesky mynock causing damage to their trusty ship, it soon dawns on Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Leia that the safe haven crater that they thought they'd landed in a) isn't all that safe a safe haven, b) isn't actually a crater, and c) our team of protagonists need to get moving ASAP.

It's then that the penny drops that this crater is actually the inside of a giant space slug known as an exogorth. From there, it's a race against time to escape from this beast's insides as its jaws begin to close - with the insinuation that some of the galaxy's greatest heroes could end up being turned into exogorth chow.

Finally, we get to see the exogorth in all of its glory as it unsuccessfully makes one last attempt to munch on the Millennium Falcon, as Han steers the ship back out into the safety of the stars.
