10. Monkeys With Guns - Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

The Scene: Well, pretty much any moment in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes involving the apes, really. The first film in Fox's prequel probably-gonna-be-a-trilogy, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, was infinitely more intelligent and inventive than we thought a Planet Of The Apes would be, could be, or even should be. That same mindset was carried over to the sequel which, along with some pretty convincing CGI chimps, continued with the social commentary by drawing parallels between real-world conflicts and the burgeoning war between the apes and humankind, the latter of whom were ravaged by a diseases carried by the monkeys. And by burgeoning war we mean an actual war, which meant that there were multiple scenes of monkeys holding guns. Which is just inherently awesome. Why It's Awesome: Seriously? We need to explain the allure of a chimp holding a shotgun, a rifle, or a rocket launcher to you? It's funny! They think they're people! Horrible, bloodthirsty, warmongering people! They're riding horses and everything! Lord Of The Rings motion capture pioneer Andy Serkis might have got most of the plaudits for his role as Caesar, aptly-named leader of the apes, but we reckon that Toby Kebbell deserves some praise thrown his way. The British actor played Koba, a scarred bonobo ape who was mistreated by humans and disobeys Caesar's orders in favour of nicking some assault rifles in order to get revenge on the hairless upstarts who've kept them down for too long. It's super badass, and it's all involving a monkey with a gun.
