10 Awesome Trailers That Tricked Us Into Seeing Awful Movies

9. Pearl Harbour

Fair play to whoever assembled this trailer; they likely knew they had a piece of garbage on their hands but knew exactly how to manipulate a Michael Bay movie to look awesome. Take a wealth of stunning, sweeping images from the movie, overlay an epic soundtrack, some period voiceover, and you've pretty much put butts in seats already. Hell, at this point, even flashing up Ben Affleck's name couldn't derail all the good this trailer had done. This trailer succeeded on our belief that even Michael Bay couldn't ruin an event as historically significant as Pearl Harbour, but the final product revealed a heinous number of historical inaccuracies, as well as terrible acting, goofy humour that Bay is now known for, and a ridiculously over-the-top, melodramatic love triangle between the three leads that basically sealed the deal. Though it cleaned up at the box office, this one is almost universally reviled by critics, and well, anyone with a vague grasp of history.
