When the world went into lockdown due to the Corona virus, it was only a matter of time before someone made a movie about it.

However, no one expected it to happen so quickly! When governments around the world were preparing lockdown in March 2020, Simon Boyes and Adam Mason were already jotting down ideas for a Covid-based movie. Nine months later, their film, Songbird, was released.

After watching this feature for a matter of minutes, it's blatantly obvious the filmmakers were in a hurry making it. It's shot so amateurishly, it feels like every single scene was executed in a single take. The stakes are low, the characters are boring, the cinematography is pitiful, and the plot is virtually non-existent.

The only thing you take away from the film was that it was unmistakably made to take advantage of a global tragedy rather than to tell anything that resembled an interesting story.

The only redeemable feature that Songbird has is Peter Stormare, who plays the sanitation department chief. His performance may be over-the-top but it's the only thing mildly entertaining in this piece of trash.
