10 Awful Films The Lord Of The Rings Actors Want You To Forget

3. Christopher Lee (Saruman) - The Satanic Rites Of Dracula

The Last Witch Hunter
Hammer

Over a period of 15 years, Christopher Lee played Count Dracula in seven Hammer productions. Even though the Hammer series is cheesy and camp, it deserves a lot of credit since the company was responsible for revitalising the horror genre during the 1950s and 1960s.

But even the hardcore Hammer fans will struggle to find anything redeeming in the last film in the series, The Satanic Rites of Dracula. Despite its title, the flick feels more like an espionage story since it focuses on spies battling gangsters rather than the Transylvanian count.

Apart from one scene near the beginning, Dracula doesn't appear until the last 20 minutes of the film. Because he has barely any dialogue, Lee isn't given a chance to show off his acting chops. If it wasn't for the captivating performance of Peter Cushing as Van Helsing, the film would have nothing to offer.

Its predecessors may have been silly but at least they were competently made. The Satanic Rites has bad lighting, dreadful sound, and blatantly obvious ADR. The film turned out so abysmally, Christopher Lee was happy to finally hang up his cape for the Hammer franchise.
