10 Awkward Movie Moments That Must Have Happened Off-Screen
1. The Morning After - The Purge
On the face of it, without delving into the real goal of ridding the streets of the poor and vulnerable, the Purge allowed average US citizens to commit any crime they wanted for one night of the year. This allowed them to exercise any rage and fury deep inside, and go back to normal the next day.
But just how normal actually is that next day?
There was a glimpse at the wonderful awkwardness between Mary Sandin and her neighbours once the Purge was over in the first movie, but this is just the tip of the iceberg.
You can imagine how many disgruntled workers used the annual killing spree to target their own bosses. Just imagine the conversations at work the next day. You didn't do anything illegal, quite the opposite in fact, so would you hide it, or would you embrace and celebrate that you were the one who got rid of the boss?
On a wider scale, what about the chaos on the streets the next morning? The roads would be littered with the evidence of the previous night's atrocities, yet you'd be expected to ignore the brutally murdered corpses near your home, the fires still raging, or what you may have seen loved ones doing.
No matter what you saw, or who you saw doing it, surely pretending like things were normal the next day would be impossible.
