10 Background Star Wars Characters More Important Than You Think
1. Quinlan Vos
Quinlan Vos is hands down one of the coolest Jedi of the prequels, but he only ever made one (!!) appearance in live action, during the confrontation between Jar Jar Binks and Sebulba in The Phantom Menace. He gets a reference in Revenge of the Sith too, but bar that, he's way less prominent than the rest of the background Jedi depicted throughout the Prequel Trilogy.
Vos was, like many of the other background characters throughout Star Wars' history, named after his initial appearance in live action. He made his debut in the old Legends comics and had a particularly large role in Star Wars: Republic, eventually gaining George Lucas' attention enough to give him the aforementioned reference in Episode III.
Both in Legends and in the current canon, Vos was considered a maverick Jedi skilled in combat. He was also a master of infiltration and undercover work, which eventually led to the Council assigning Vos the task of teaming up with Asajj Ventress to assassinate Count Dooku during the closing stages of the Clone Wars. He had a romance with Ventress, and briefly turned to the dark side before regaining his title as a general in the Grand Army of the Republic. Vos' story is told in the Dark Disciple novel, which was adapted from a series of cancelled Clone Wars episodes and is something every Clone Wars fan HAS to read.
Even more interesting, though, is that Vos is also considered one of the few likely survivors of the Jedi Purge. His status, at the time of writing, is still unknown...
