10 Background Star Wars Characters More Important Than You Think

8. Most Of The Jedi Council

The Jedi Council of the prequels - bar Yoda and Mace Windu - essentially serve as window dressing. They're all immaculately brought to life with some great makeup and costume design, but apart from typifying the cold and somewhat distant nature of the Jedi Order before dying in Episode III, they weren't really used for much.

Enter the Clone Wars. The 2003 animated series from Genndy Tartakovsky offered a stylistic interpretation of the pivotal conflict that primarily took place between Episodes II and III, and fleshed out two Jedi in particular - Kit Fisto and Shaak Ti.

The former was portrayed more so as an aquatic, fun-loving Jedi (spinning off from the cheeky grin we see of his in Attack of the Clones), while the latter was cast as a noble and valiant Knight of the Order who gave everything to try and protect the Chancellor during the invasion of Coruscant.

The 2008 series had a little more room to play with though, and applied the same mantra to countless other Jedi. Luminara Unduli and her Padawan, Barriss Offee, both had plenty of opportunities to shine, but by far the most to benefit from the 2008 series was Plo Koon, who finally got a chance to strut his stuff as a compassionate and skilled leader who cared deeply for his clone troopers, as well as his fellow Jedi.
