10 Background Star Wars Characters More Important Than You Think
5. Wullf Yularen
Wullf Yularen was a background character present in the meeting aboard the Death Star in Episode IV, sporting a white tunic instead of the traditional grey seen on the other officers' uniforms. He was originally portrayed by Robert Clarke in the 1977 film, and perished alongside the rest of the Imperial forces aboard the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin.
Yularen was, like Willrow Hood, first named in the Star Wars Customisable Card Game in the late nineties, but didn't see much exploration in expanded universe material compared to some of the other background figures seen in the Original Trilogy.
In fact, it wouldn't be until the 2008 Clone Wars series where Yularen would take on more of a starring role, this time being voiced by Tom Kane as an admiral in the Republic Navy.
Like Grand Moff Tarkin, Yularen ascended the ranks of the Republic military and proved to be an invaluable asset when Emperor Palpatine reorganised the Republic into the Galactic Empire, later heading up the dreaded Imperial Security Bureau seen in Star Wars Rebels.
