4. Brad Pitt Mickey ONeil in Snatch (2000)
Brad Pitt has had his fair share of great minor characters in movies. From his early roles in films like True Romance, Thelma and Louise and 12 Monkeys to the more recent Burn After Reading, Pitt never fails to deliver incredible performances in limited screen time. But its his portrayal of the gypsy boxer Mickey ONeil in Guy Richies hit film Snatch that really takes the cake. Few characters have stolen the focus of an entire film like Pitt does in Snatch. Richie offers us a plethora of amazing larger-than-life characters throughout the film but its the moment Mickey enters the picture that the audience know were in for a real treat. Pitt is at his most playful with the character of Mickey, which allows him to meld seamlessly into Richies insane criminal universe. I can remember back to my school days after Snatch was released, when everyone was mimicking Mickeys thick rural Irish accent (mostly incoherent ramblings) in the playground. There was just so much about the character to love. With his passion for caravans, dags and his ma, Pitt has the strange ability to appear charming as hell and completely filthy all at the same time. Its this hilarious combination that is essential in creating one of the most memorable characters in recent years.
