10 Badass Supporting Characters That OWNED The Film

2. Alec Baldwin €“ €˜Blake€™ in Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)

BlakeAlec Baldwin€™s one scene in a Glengarry Glen Ross (a film featuring more A-Grade actors than you could poke a stick at) is something every budding young actor should be made to study. His sensational, certainly Cadillac worthy performance as the nightmare-inducing motivation speaker known only in the film as €˜Fuck You€™ (credited as Blake) sets the perfect tone of the high pressure world of real estate that the movie so excellently depicts. Adapted by David Mamet from his stage play of the same name, Glengarry originally didn€™t even feature Baldwin€™s character. It was only because the stage play was too short for a feature length film that Mamet added a few extra scenes - Baldwin€™s famous rant being one of them. From the get-go Baldwin takes complete control of his surrounds. Blake€™s sharp-tongued, cool as hell delivery (€œFirst Prize is a Cadillac Eldorado€ Second prize is a set of stake knives. Third prize is your fired€) combined with the tense atmosphere he creates by getting right up in the faces of the salesmen, makes the scene one of the most unforgettable in movie history. I€™ll finish with Blake€™s intimidating response to Ed Harris€™ character Moss€™ attempt to stand up for himself; €œYou drove a Hyundai to get here tonight, I drove an $80,000 BMW €“ THAT€™S my name€. Blake is one badass dude.
