2. Howard Hughes' Final Years Were Depressing As Hell - The Aviator

Martin Scorsese's The Aviator follows Howard Hughes; one of the world's most powerful men during the early 20th century. Nowadays, Hughes is infamous for living as a hermit in his final years. Although Hughes' OCD is depicted in the movie, the story ends before Hughes' mental instability reaches rock bottom.

As his condition exasperated, he refused to see his wife for 14 years, terrified she would infect him with germs. When he overstayed at the Desert Inn Hotel, he bought the entire complex on a whim. After buying 350 gallons of Banana Nut ice-cream, he suddenly said he didn't like the flavour anymore, forcing his assistants, (who he insisted had to be Mormons), to dispose of it. Because he was expected to pay state tax every 180 days, he moved to another state every 179 days (even though he was billionaire!)

By the end of his life, he only weighed a mere 90lbs. While heading to hospital on his plane, he died from kidney failure. Because he hadn't shaved or cut his nails in years, he was completely unrecognisable and could only be identified through his fingerprints.
