Star Wars fans have been lucky enough to be gifted reams of deleted scenes over the years, but sadly not every single filmed scene has made it onto the series' glut of home video releases.

Case in point, we have this rare glimpse of a deleted scene from early on in The Empire Strikes Back, where Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) defends Hoth's Echo Base with a laser canon mounted on top of a transport, which he reportedly fires at an attacking wampa.

Sadly there's precious little information available about the scene or why it was cut, but it confirms that the already spectacular Hoth sequence had even more planned action that fans never got to see.
