Best - We Need To Talk About Kevin

While The Help, The Descendants and particularly Moneyball (Sorkin was really on a role heading into this decade) were all incredible (and close run alternative options), Lynne Ramsay's painful, unflinching drama We Need To Talk About Kevin has to be the winner.

Based on Lional Shriver's incredible, controversial novel, the film packs an astonishing punch thanks to the performances of a spell-binding Ezra Miller and his desperate, spiralling mother Tilda Swinton. It's transgressive - never looking to point a finger of blame or even entertain the idea of causation - visually stunning without artifice and if cinema is judged on feelings alone, this takes some beating.
