wikipedia

Adapted from the play written by Jez Butterworth, this strange film was one of the first times it was possible to see the actor's potential. It wasn't successful commercially or critically, but it was a fantastic way for many actors to delve into the screen world with a dense and funny script.

Mojo depicts a series of events surrounding the rivalry over a new up and coming rock'n'roll singer named Silver Johnny. Murder, confusion and chaos erupt in this comedy where a gangster and a club owner fight over control of the star.

Serkis plays Potts, an associate of the club owner and potential victim to gang leader Sam Ross. His performance is constantly energetic as he works between moments of frantic panic and a sense of comradery with the others involved. He feels totally appropriate for the club setting and approaches the role with some fantastic comedy chops.

Whilst it certainly isn't one of his most well-known performances, he does a fantastic job in this feature and it acts as a great doorway into the career he had before becoming known for his motion-capture work.
