Very rarely do you come across a movie that embodies everything good about the genre. Lucky for us, this decade gave us Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Everything about this Academy Award winning masterpiece, from the unique visuals to the wonderfully written characters to the original story, gave us a viewing experience we will never forget.

As far as nice, feelgood stories go, few comic book movies, animated or otherwise, have been as enjoyable as this one. While the Spider-Verse comics have always been adored by fans, this took everything good about the source material and multiplied it several fold.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about this movie is how well it does justice to an ensemble cast. For whatever reason, we have never gotten too much of Miles Morales on our screens. This more than made up for it as the young hero simply won our hearts. It starts off as a nice little teenager’s tale before quickly escalating into a story of power struggles and brave sacrifices. Joining Miles is a host of other fan favorites. There is Peter B. Parker fighting to regain his honor and the love of his life, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, SP//dr and perhaps the best Superhero to debut in this decade; Spider-Gwen. To top it all off, we got a version of Kingpin who can be both hated and sympathized with.

The ending managed to tie up all the narrative threads in a nice little bow and gave everyone what they deserved. What more can you ask for?

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
