10 Best Animated Movie Sequels

7. Kung-Fu Panda 2

Wreck It Ralph 2
Dreamworks

Another Oscar-nominated movie, Kung-Fu Panda 2 boasts an all-star cast, with returning leads such as Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Angeline Jolie, and welcoming another heavyweight in the form of Gary Oldman to voice Lord Shen, the villainous peacock out to weaponise his family's fireworks to take over Ancient China. As with its predecessor, Kung-Fu Panda 2 is jam-packed with hilarious jokes and antics - Po didn't know we was adopted by his goose father, poor Po! - and full of impressive action scenes and martial arts battles.

The movie was widely hailed by critics and audiences for its humour, action, musical score and character development when it came out in 2011, and this American-made film demonstrates a well-reasoned familiarity with Chinese culture that is educational and entertaining at the same time.

A very respectful 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes and the fact that it was the highest-grossing animated film the year it was released at a whopping $665 million worldwide, over triple its original budget, further solidify that this film is a winning sequel that builds on the successes of its first installment.
